Role Definition

Works as part of the Structural Supervision Team (Buildings). The team member reviews, inspects, coordinates, and approve the contractor structural technical submittals and construction activities on projects under the supervision of the structural team.
Capable of representing the structural leads in project supervision and technical approvals and actively participate in overall inter-disciplinary coordination

Core Accountabilities

  • Reviews and approves all contractor structural/civil technical submittals & sub-contractors
  • Leads and guides inspection teams on site
  • Replies to RFIs and coordination with other discipline and design teams
  • Performs technical research and technical reports
  • Follow-up with site observations and non-compliances
  • Reviews and deals with design calculations, analysis models and BIM models

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works independently and as part of a team to complete specific supervision activities assigned.
  • Responsible for providing approvals for the contractor’s structural technical submittals.
  • Collaborates/communicates with other disciplines regarding coordination issues and day-to-day supervision activities
  • Supports inspection team to resolve any site activity issues
  • Adopts creative and innovative solutions to site problems/clashes and develops appropriate supportive technical documentation/research reports
  • Coordinates with AOR design team regarding specialist’s packages approvals by authorities
  • Informing and discussing design change decisions with colleagues to ensure project requirements are met
  • Reviews contractor variation orders in regarding structural/civil activities

Qualities and Skills required

  • Ability to fulfil the above duties and responsibilities.
  • Building structural supervision experience
  • Experience on structural supervision on Small to Medium scale projects
  • Excellent presentation and communication abilities
  • Ability and willingness to adapt to company and project objectives and maintain KPIs.
  • Basic knowledge in using common industry standard software such as ETABS, SAFE, STAAD, RAM and willing to quickly learn new analysis packages as required
  • Basic knowledge of BIM and REVIT platform
  • Knowledge of widely used structural design codes and standards.
  • Knowledge of local authorities’ requirements
  • Ability to stay updated with latest technical structural aspects

Qualifications required

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc/B.Eng) in Structural Engineering
  • Minimum 9 years post-graduate experience
  • Any professional accreditation is a plus
  • GCC building supervision experience preferred (5+ years). Dubai experience is preferred
  • Own car and driving license
